Vintage Kansas City Postcard

Our studio is located in a 100+ year old building in the Crossroads District of downtown Kansas City, MO. Awhile back we picked up this vintage postcard on ebay of a birds-eye view of Grand Blvd. looking north. I'm guessing from the cars in the photo this picture was from the 1920's to possibly the 1930's. On the postcard our building has advertising for Sweet Caporal tobacco painted on it's north side. During this period the ground floor of our building housed a sausage shop and the upper two floors were one of the many short stay hotels located in the area near Union Station. The Sweet Caporal tobacco sign has long ago disappeared as did the trolley cars but in recent years, downtown KC has made major strides in revitalizing it's downtown. Union Station has been restored to it's former grandeur. A new downtown arena and performing arts center have changed the skyline, a light rail system is currently under construction, and for the first time in many decades, people are flocking back into the city to live and work.
